Glen Ballard

Six-Time Grammy® Award winner Glen Ballard is one of popular music’s most accomplished producers and songwriters, whose records have sold more than 150 million copies worldwide.

Ballard’s credits include co-writing “Man In The Mirror,” first heard on Michael Jackson’s 8x Platinum album, Bad (1988). As a single, the song topped the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, and it remains one of Jackson’s most popular and well-loved recordings. In 1990, Ballard produced and co-wrote Wilson Phillips’ self-titled debut album, which sold 10x Platinum, earned three Grammy nominations for Ballard, and resulted in three #1 pop singles: “Hold On,” “Release Me” and “You’re In Love.” One of Ballard’s biggest successes is Alanis Morrissette’s multi-platinum debut album Jagged Little Pill, which he co-wrote and produced in its entirety. The 1995 chart-topping album has been certified 16x Platinum in the U.S. (with worldwide sales in excess of 30 million copies) and remains the #3 bestselling album in history, as well as being the bestselling solo album and bestselling debut album of all time. The album garnered four Billboard Top 10 hit singles: “You Oughta Know,” “Ironic,” “Hand In My Pocket” and “You Learn.” Honored as Billboard’s “Top Pop Album of the 90s,” Jagged Little Pill earned Ballard three Grammys for Best Rock Song (“You Oughta Know”), Best Rock Album and the coveted Album Of The Year, and he was also nominated for Producer Of The Year. Jagged Little Pill Live won him yet another Grammy for Best Video (Long Form). The following year, the single “Ironic”, from the same album, was nominated for Record of the Year.

Other credits include co-writing and producing Grammy-nominated “Falling In Love (Is Hard On The Knees)” and Grammy-winning “Pink” off Aerosmith’s double platinum Nine Lives, as well as co-writing and producing all songs on The Dave Matthews Band’s multi-Platinum album Everyday (2001). Ballard also produced and co-penned Christina Aguilera’s hit song “The Voice Within” from her 2002 triple Platinum album Stripped. Ballard established himself as a soundtrack hit-maker with the song “Believe”, co-written with Alan Silvestri and performed by Josh Groban for the film The Polar Express, which won Ballard a Grammy and nominations for a Golden Globe and an Academy Award in 2005.
