Michael Weiner

Michael Weiner co-wrote the music and lyrics for the Broadway musical First Date, which ran at the Longacre Theatre in New York starring Zachary Levi and has subsequently enjoyed hundreds of productions around the world. Additionally, Michael co-wrote the score for the Broadway-bound adaptation of the classic film Trading Places, which premiered at Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre (director: Kenny Leon/book: Thomas Lennon). He also co-wrote music and lyrics for the musicals Secondhand Lions (book: Rupert Holmes/producer: Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures/soundtrack available on Broadway Records/world premiere 5th Avenue Theatre) and 17 Again (book: Marco Pennette/licensing available through MTI/soundtrack available on Concord Theatricals Recordings).

For film and television, Michael has written songs for the Paramount Pictures animated feature Paws of Fury and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series on Disney+, as well as the critically acclaimed musical episode of ABC’s Once Upon a Time. Additionally, he has developed TV shows for ABC, NBC, AMAZON, FOX, CW, Disney Channel and Nickelodeon.

Upcoming projects include: Galileo, an original musical premiering at Berkeley Rep in May 2024 (director: Michael Mayer/book: Danny Strong/co-music & lyrics: Zoe Sarnak), a stage adaptation of the hit film 13 Going on 30 (director: Andy Fickman/book: Josh Goldsmith & Cathy Yuspa), a commission for Ambassador Theatre Group Productions and original movie musicals at TriStar Pictures and Disney+.
