Pravin Wilkins
Pravin Wilkins is a playwright, poet and fiction writer based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania whose works typically deal with race and class struggle – and the many intersections between. He began writing plays during his time at the University of California, San Diego, as an undergraduate student of political science and literature; he continued his journey as a playwright by travelling to Pittsburgh in 2018 to pursue a graduate degree at Carnegie Mellon University. During the past few years, his work has been recognized by the UC San Diego Department of Theatre & Dance (whose faculty members honoured him at graduation with the Eric Bowling Award for his site-specific protest piece, #takebackgraffitihall) and the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center (which named Moreno as a 2020 finalist for the National Playwrights’ Conference).
In May 2020, Pravin received his MFA in Dramatic Writing from Carnegie Mellon’s School of Drama. He was then selected as a fall 2020 Writer-in-Residence at City Books in Pittsburgh; his works Bars (Four Walls Theater) and Throw Away the Weaker Part (dramatic question theatre) have been performed in digital spaces for live audiences. Moreno (Theatre503) was his first full production.
